Project brief

Bulgaria's Black Sea coast is home to two sea airports: Varna and Burgas. In 2021, Varna and Burgas airports served nearly 2 million passengers on more than 17,500 flights operated by 70 Bulgarian and foreign airlines to more than 96 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Bulcode was chosen as a trusted technology partner to drive digital transformation, resulting in the creation of a state-of-the-art website and integrated backend system. Both airport websites use the same codebase with different configurations. A combination of headless Drupal 10 and Next.js is used to build the platform's software solution. Flight schedules are communicated and synchronised using an API exposed by headless Drupal and then rendered by React, allowing for a fast and fluid user experience as well as exceptional search filtering.
